On Thursday the Lions JV hosted the Yoakum freshmen team.

The Lions would take the opening kickoff and score as Derrick Wilson ran it in from 21 yards. Dustin Soto would score the 2pt conversion as Wilson would connect with him to make it 8-0.

Yoakum would answer on their drive and score from 3 yards. Their 2pt try would be stopped to leave it 8-6 Lions.

The Lions would score again in the first as Chris Pena would streak down the sideline to catch the Wilson pass for a 64 yard strike. The 2pt conversion was no good, 14-6 Lions.

Early in the 2nd quarter the Bulldogs would tie it with a 5 yard run and run the 2pt conversion in to make it 14-14.

Right before the half Aaron Villarreal would scramble in from 30 yards on the reverse to give the lead back to the Lions 20-14 as the 2pt run would be stopped. The Lions would score first in the 3rd quarter after the fumble recovery by Pena. Villarreal would throw the touchdown pass to Pena for the 23 yard strike. Lions lead 26-14 after the failed 2pt conversion.

The Lions would get a defensive stop and drive down and Pena would run it in from 10 yards out and Wilson would add the 2pt conversion to make 34-14.

Yoakum would tally the only score in the 4th quarter as they would plunge in from 1 yard and then run the 2pt conversion to make it 34-22.

This is where it would stay as the Lions ran some time off the clock and then stopped the Bulldogs at the Lions 11 yard line to end the game.

Next up for the Lions JV is a trip to Sinton to play the Sinton freshmen team.
