The Lady Badgers jumped out to a 22-15 lead after the first quarter and led 41-23 at the half. The Lady Cats battled back to out-score the Lady Badgers 15-12 in the third quarter, but in the end the Lady Badgers prevailed 65-43.
“We shot free throws very poorly tonight and Bishop shot the ball very well,” said Coach David Hemphill. “If they shoot the ball like that, it won’t matter who they play, they’ll be tough to beat.”
Haley Brynelsen had 17 points for the Lady Cats.
In Friday night action, the Banquete Lady Bulldogs came to town to face off with the Lady Cats. It was a night the Lady Dogs might want to forget.
The Lady Cats collared the Lady Dogs in a 74-26 victory. It was a night the youngsters for the Lady Cats played big.
Sophomore Antoinette Villarreal scored 12 points and had 10 steals to lead the Lady Cats, while freshmen Morgan Klaevemann had 11 points and 7 steals. Freshmen Jackie Gonzales scored 9 and freshmen Laterrian Perkins scored 7.
“Our youngsters came off the bench and played well for us tonight,” said Coach Hemphill. “They showed hustle, spirit and fight. The playing experience is going to pay off for us down the road”.
The win, and a loss by Freer to Skidmore, put the Lady Cats back into a tie for third with Freer. The Lady Cats faced a tough test Tuesday night in San Diego.
The Lady Cats are now 19-10 on the season and 7-4 in district.
