The Lady Eagles opened with a victory over the Nordheim Lady Pirates but then lost their second round contest to the Victoria Home School Cobras. The third place contest had the Lady Eagles meeting their hosts, the Woodsboro Lady Eagles.
The Pettus girls got the win at 54-42 to claim third place in the tournament. Ryan Grayson and Destiny Carrillo received all-tournament honors.
On Tuesday night, the Lady Eagles were back in Woodsboro for the rematch of sorts and the home-standing “other” Eagles got a little payback with a 56-48 victory.
“We started the first half just not ready to play, but I’m proud how the girls came back fighting the second half. We tied it up at some point, but they outscored us pretty good the second quarter and our free throws held us back in the second half,” said Pettus head coach Sunny DeCamp.
“My post players are really stepping it up, Ryan Grayson was the leading scorer with 19 points and she hauled in 11 rebounds. Tori Arrisola came on strong with 13 points and 11 rebounds.”
The Lady Eagles are competing in the Austwell-Tivoli Lady Redfish tournament this weekend. Pettus will be on the road on Tuesday night in Ganado.
