The freshman Lady Trojans ran into a tough, determined and physical Bear team.
The Beeville girls were in front by one, 5-4, at the end of the first period but things changed in the second quarter.
The Lady Bears threw a fence around the basket and limited the Beeville girls to just one point in the second period. The West Oso offense fed off the defense and recorded 12 points to come out of hibernation and led 16-6 at the half.
West Oso outscored the Lady Trojans 10-5 in the third to take final command of the game. It was a 26-11 tilt entering the fourth quarter. The two teams played evenly over the final minutes but the damage had been done by the marauding Bears, and West Oso was the winner at 34-19.
“By far, this is the best mechanical game that our girls have played. The girls executed their offense great, but we just could not find the basket,” said freshman coach Jason Hinds.
Marissa Rodriguez hit for eight points in the loss. Priscilla Koenig followed with four. Cheyenne Del Bosque and Eddika Ortega each contributed two points. Samantha Salazar and Tif’ni Puebla both made one free throw.
In the JV game, the Lady Trojans had the upper hand the entire way and emerged with a 34-15 victory over the host Lady Bears.
“The JV girls are going to dominate, controlling their opponents to keep on winning,” said junior varsity coach Gracy Bryce.
“We just have to keep working hard.”
The Lady Trojans hosted the Ray Lady Texans on Tuesday night before taking a break for the Thanksgiving holidays.
