“One awesome thing is we went undefeated at home and went undefeated in our last 12 games until Cedar Park, which was awesome and we were the best team in district,” said head coach Don Ledesma.
Befitting such a good finish, the Lady Trojans captured several district accolades and a couple of district MVP honors.
Forward Victoria Elizalde was named the co-Most Valuable Player in the district and goalkeeper Randi Maupin was named the as the Goalkeeper MVP as well for the Lady Trojans.
Three members were named to the all-district first team for their fine play this season. Heather McKinney, Tori Munoz and Taylor Castillo had outstanding seasons for coach Ledesma.
The all-district second team also sported three Lady Trojans. Mackenzie Harvey, Claire McKinney and Sydney Wesson earned the second team spots. Honorable mention status was awarded to Anisa Cantu, Niki Longoria, Celeste Contreras and Carmen Rojas.
The Lady Trojans also earned Academic All-District honors for their work in the classroom as well as on the soccer field. A student/athlete must be in good standing at the varsity level and also maintain a 90 or above average in the classroom.
Heather McKinney, Claire McKinney, Sydney Wesson, Randi Maupin, Niki Longoria, Celeste Contreras, Taylor Castillo, Victoria Elizalde, Tori Munoz, Kennedy Trevino and Mackenzie Harvey all made the grades and were named to the district’s elite academic squad.
Academic All-State honors were bestowed on Heather McKinney, Claire McKinney, Wesson, Maupin, Longoria, Contreras, Castillo, Elizalde and Munoz.
