VICTORIA – It was a tough night on Tuesday for the Beeville varsity girls basketball team, facing off against the Titans who are ranked in the top 15 or so of the state’s 4A elite.

The Lady Titans lived up to their billing and dealt the Lady Trojans a 61-34 defeat.

Victoria East sports a 28-2 record on the year while the Lady Trojans fell to a 17-8 mark for the season and 0-2 start in district play.

The East defense stifled the A.C. Jones High offense and the taller and talented Lady Titans controlled the action from the opening tip. No Beeville player reached double figures.

Victoria Elizalde was held to nine points in the loss. Theresa Amador battled inside for seven. Alisa Patterson finished with five. Brennan Holder contributed four, Ciara Garcia hit for three and Tori Munoz made two points.

The Lady Trojans played host to another state-ranked squad on Friday night when the Floresville Jaguars paid a visit to Beeville.

The Lady Trojans will travel to Port Lavaca on Tuesday night to meet the Calhoun Sandies.
