The Lagarto Community Club held their monthly meeting on April 14th. President Lucy Cantu called the meeting to order and welcomed 12 members. Trish Arink read the inspirational message entitled “Little Things” by Laina Owen. The President conducted the meeting before we had the potluck luncheon.

Treasurer Connie Reardon covered the financial report for March. She stated that the profit from the April rummage sale was over a $1,000. Lucy Cantu brought up participation in the Pioneer Days on Saturday, April 16th. Members staffed the booth and sold our recipe and history books, raffle tickets, bazaar items and a bargain table of rummage items. Remaining items from the rummage sale will be sold in a “dollar bag” sale later in the summer.

Members decided to purchase personalized pens with “Lagarto Community Club” engraved on them as gifts for our guest speakers and other special projects. The sale of our personalized kitchen projects has netted us a $100 profit so far and the final order will be placed after the May club meeting. The drawing for our Mother’s Day Raffle will be held May 5th. You can purchase your tickets until then.

The following officers were nominated and approved to serve next year: Trish Arink, president; Lee Smith, vice-president; Linda Avila, secretary; Jessica Keese, treasurer; Dottie Meyer, reporter.

Members were asked to sign up for hostess and inspirational talks for next year.

It was decided to again give two $750 scholarships to a male and female high school senior. Applications have been given to the three area high schools. They will be picked up April 19th and judged to be presented at our May meeting.

The door prize was drawn and Sharon Tonne won a flattened wine bottle cheese tray. Happy Birthday was sung to Chole Trevino our only April birthday.

Linda Avila gave the blessing and we shared a potluck luncheon and dessert. Our hostesses were Jessica Keese and Linda Avila.

The next meeting for the Lagarto Community Club will be May 12th. Anyone interested in joining this group is welcome to attend.
