She was born on Jan. 3, 1928 in Hobson to Clement Sylvester Henke and Charlotte (Kunkel) Henke. Along with being a homemaker, Mrs. Kuhnel was employed as a librarian in San Antonio and worked for the water district in her sub division in Houston. She was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson.
Survivors include her children, Donald S. (Pat) Kuhnel of Hobson, Charles T. (Donna) Kuhnel of San Antonio, Clarence J. (Debbie) Kuhnel of Spring, David (Kathy) Kuhnel of Johnstown, Colo., and Loris Ann (Barry) Shuler of San Marcos; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Henke and sisters, Alice Dylla, Charlene Lanum, Grace Hons and Stell Blanchard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Vernon Kuhnel.
Visitation began Monday, April 21 at 6 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Boniface Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 22 at 10 a.m.
Interment followed in the Hobson Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home.
