A faithful Christian, with a gentle and loving Spirit, Lawrence quietly served those around him.
He was born in Yoakum, TX to Herman and Nellie Barre.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Pacific Area, and was a W.W. II veteran. After his return from the war he started working for Shell Oil Company in the early 1950's. He moved to Karnes City, TX., in the mid-60's to continue working for Shell Oil Co. After 33 years of service, Lawrence enjoyed spending their retirement years in both Texas and Washington State. He served as a deacon at the Kenedy Church of Christ in Kenedy, T. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Faye Janell Barre. He is survivied by his four sons Larry Barre (Judith)of Rockport, TX; Stanley Barre (Vera) of Hobson, TX; Chris Barre of Coeur d'Alene, ID; Kim Barre (Jeannie) of Katy, TX; 12 grandchildren: Melissa Solis, Laura Haley. Michael Barre, Delana Lemley, Kevin Barre, Heather Redburn, Tom Woodman, Aimee Delevan, Christopher Barre, Lindsey Barre, Abby Barre and Joshua Barre and 1 great-great grandchild, brother Chester Barre or Rockport, TX and sister Nellie Mae Hermes of Adkins, TX.
A "Celebration of Life" is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7th, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
