Leopards fall to Yorktown, rise above Nordheim

The Kenedy Leopards fell to Yorktown on Tuesday and rose above Nordheim on Friday.

The Leopards played a hard fought 3 game match againist Yorktown losing the match 25-23, 25-19,25-18. The Leopards kills for the match were lead by Saren Sutton with nine, Karly Nichols with 6, Jacki Zapata with five, Teryn Schmidt with 2 and Lauren Hernandez with one kill. Becca Brown had seventeen assits on the match. Nichols had three aces and Schmidt and Hernandez had two aces each. Ten blocks were scattered among the team with Nichols, Zapata, Schmidt, Sutton and Hernandez. Lillie Vickery lead the team with digs with ten and Laurel Vickery had five digs.

During the Nordheim match, Nordheim was close to winning the first game with a score of 25-23 but the Leopards had total control of the last two games with scores of 25-4 and 25-11. The team excelled at aces this match with Becca Brown having nine aces, Saren Sutton with seven aces, Karly Nichols and Teryn Schmidt with two each, and Lauren Hernandez with one ace. Sutton also lead the team in kills with nine. Schmidt had seven kills, Jacki Zapata with 6, Nichols with 3 and Hernandez and Brown had on kill each. The Vickery girls, Lillie and Laurel, had six digs each.

The Leopard are 7-3 in district. They will face Woodsboro on Tuesday and Parent’s Night the following Tuesday on October 23rd againist Runge.
