However, on Friday it will be the major item of importance as the City of Beeville will sponsor an information session at the Beeville Community Center, 111 E. Corpus Christi St., starting at 6 p.m. It will continue until all questions are answered about the city’s new trash and recyclable collection system.
City Code Compliance Official Ronald “Buddy” Hardy will be at the meeting to explain how Republic’s trash and recyclable toters are to be used and what items may be placed in which containers.
We commend Hardy and city officials for taking their concept around the community, speaking to civic organizations regarding the new, weekly trash collection and twice-monthly recyclable routes.
Paper, newspaper, plastics, aluminum, tin and steel cans will be accepted for recycling, but no glass, Styrofoam, plastic bags, yard waste and other materials.
All other questions about the new blue trash and garbage containers and blue with green-topped recycling toters will be answered at Friday’s session.
Hardy believes the new system will work smoothly, that it’s a “wonderful thing” and “exciting.”
If it helps make our city more attractive and reduces costs and landfill space, count us as enthusiastic supporters.
