The 8A squad won 47-44 in overtime to get to 3-1 in district play and 5-2 overall.
The young Trojans got off to a rocky start, putting up five points in the first period on a couple of shots by Dolton Corpus and Brandon Limonez.
The Trojans managed to pick up the pace in the second, doubling the first quarter score to take a 19-15 deficit into the half.
The MMS boys finally found their sense of urgency to get back into the game as the second half consisted of many lead changes.
Coming to the end of regulation, the score was tied. Beeville got off a final shot, but it fell short to send the match into overtime.
The Trojans outscored the Warriors to take the win by three points for another district road win.
High scorers for the game were Corpus with 18, Tommy Dang with 11 and Limonez with nine. EJ Valdez added five, Brandon Barrera tossed in three points and Randy Deleon added one.
Brian Lucio and Jacob Flores both had outstanding play on defense, according to coach Ricardo Maldonado.
“The Trojans have competed hard all season long. We have two games and a tournament (Pride) this weekend at T-M remaining, and the boys are working hard to finish out the season on a strong note,” Maldonado said.
No other report was received on the other MMS games. It was a good night, though, for the young Trojans as three of the MMS squads picked up victories.
The young Trojans played Flour Bluff on Thursday night at home.
