The seventh-grade girls doubles tandem of Isabel Olivarez and Denise Martinez played a tough match and lost early in the day. Eighth-grade boys doubles duo of Gabriel Benavidez and Robert Luna, along with the eighth-grade girls doubles team of Brittany Arredondo and Krystal Ortiz, played extremely well, but both lost, according to coach Julie Maupin.
John Ross Carabajal lost his first match then went on to compete for third place.
“He played a great match but ended up bringing home fourth place overall,” Maupin said.
Also bringing home fourth place ribbons were eighth-grade girls doubles pair Heaven Rodriguez and Cori McDowell.
The seventh-grade mixed doubles team of Samual Waters and Cassidy Rands, along with eighth-grade mixed doubles duo of Mark Ryan Carabajal and Roslyn Holland dominated as both won first place medals.
“I am very proud of how we represented Beeville, the kids played very competitively and showed great sportsmanship,” Maupin said.
“Special thanks to Jesse Barrera whose help is extremely appreciated in coaching the MMS teams.”
