MATHIS – The Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats jumped out to a 3-1 lead after two innings but could not hold off the Pirates and dropped a 6-4 contest to the host varsity baseball club on Friday night.

Mathis scored twice in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 3-3 and then grabbed the lead with a three-run outburst in the fourth for a 6-3 advantage.

The ’Cats rallied in the top of the fifth for one run, but that was the last of the scoring as the Pirate pitching staff shut down the Bobcats the rest of the way to seal the victory.

T.J. Amador went 2-4 with a double to lead the S-T offensive attack. James Rodriguez was 1-3 with a run scored. Justin Hernandez had the same stat line for the Bobcats. Ryan Lakso was also 1-3 and knocked in one run. Marcus Sarate scored a run in the contest for the ’Cats. Rodriguez took the loss on the mound for the Bobcats, allowing eight hits.

The S-T varsity took on the visiting Taft Greyhounds on Tuesday night and will pay a visit to Banquete on Friday to tangle with the Bulldogs.
