The skate park is one project in which our money has been well spent. I live a few blocks from the park and pass by there quite often. There are always a lot of skaters and onlookers. Before school started, the kids would come by the house early in the morning on their way to the park, and it would be late in the evening before I would see them go by again, leaving the skate park. I think it must be one of the most used public facilities in town. There is just one problem – it is not big enough; however, it is a good start.
When the older kids are skating (which is all the time after school), there is not a place for the younger kids to skate without chancing injuries. Those who are just learning need a smaller area of their own so they don’t get hurt. Maybe, in the near future, there could be an addition to the park – such as a small-scale skate track for the younger kids.
The park has turned out to be a beautiful addition to our town. I feel our tax dollars were well spent this time. The graffiti wall would be another great addition to the park; some of our youth are very artistically inclined, and, if it is done right, then it can be painted over and used again and again. Just some thoughts to ponder.
Happy for the skaters,
