GOLIAD – Alonzo Morales has filed to retain his position as Precinct 2 County Commissioner.

Morales, who also serves as Goliad County Fire Chief, was elected in 2010 and will run again as a Democrat. Goliad City Councilman Lionel Garcia has also filed for the Democratic Precinct 2 primary. Richard Ball has filed for the Republican Precinct 2 primary.

The primaries will be March 4. Deadline for filing is Dec. 9.

“I feel that I have contributed as a responsible and accountable commissioner,” Morales said. “I have also contributed significantly working as a team with the entire commissioners court to keep the tax rate stable, working with the different county organizations in the disbursement of funds from the sale of the Airpark and bringing in the DCP plant at Berclair and associated pipelines.”

Morales said he also wants to continue representing county employees.

“We were also able to give all county employees and retirees a 3-percent raise this year and continued their benefits,” Morales said.
