KERRVILLE – Nancy Jane Newman, 67, of Kerrville and formerly of Refugio, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at a local hospital in Kerrville. Nancy worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company prior to retiring.

She was born Nov. 25, 1944, in Washington, D.C. to Noel Watkins Hare and Doris Pauline Stewart Hare but grew up in South Texas, much of her life in the Refugio area.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, David E. Newman of Kerrville; a daughter, Michelle Newman Kunze and husband Joe of Bishop; a son, David E. Newman Jr. and wife Ida of San Antonio; sisters, Noellene Hare of Augusta County, Va., and Emmy Cassidy of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Burial was at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church in Kerrville.
