During the past five weeks, I have left five messages requesting a return call from (County Attorney) Michael Knight. On the first call I had the pleasure of speaking with Nina. I told her my name and explained that J.P. Lyvers had recently given Knight a file regarding pit bulls attacking my livestock. One miniature donkey has already been killed by the pit bulls and the file Knight received documented a small claim against the neighbor who owns the pit bulls. J.P. Lyvers gave the file to Knight with the request that he advise what further action could be taken against the owners of the pit bulls.
To date, I have not received a return call from Knight. Considering the fact that Knight provides legal services to the family that owns the pit bulls, I find his lack of response particularly disturbing. Is this a conflict of interest? Is Knight unable to serve his constituents as a result of his private interests?
Regardless of his reasons, Knight’s inability to return a phone call speaks poorly for his professionalism and his manners. Since my taxes fund his paycheck I believe I deserve the courtesy of a return call. Perhaps Knight has been feeding at the public trough for so long he has forgotten whom he serves.
