At each end of the lineup are BPD Chief Joe Treviño, at left, and Three Rivers Police Department Chief Vance Roberts, at right. The new recruits are, from second from left, Yadiel Rodriguez, Raul Galarza and Chad Morris. Rodriguez, 28, is a native of Cuba and recently moved to Texas from Miami, Fla. Galarza, 26, is a native of San Benito and Morris, 30, is a Victoria native who now lives in Three Rivers.
Three recent graduates of the Victoria Police Academy took the oath of office last Friday morning as new patrolmen with the Beeville Police Department. Fifteen supporters of the new officers were on hand to witness the swearing-in ceremony, led by Deputy City Secretary Alexandria Gamez. Morris said Roberts, his father-in-law, was the man who convinced him to apply for one of the BPD openings. Roberts had served as a patrolman for the BPD in the early days of his law enforcement career.
