He was sworn in by Barbara Trevi..o, the new city secretary. The City Council chamber was filled with supporters, family members and fellow police officers when Cantu took the oath. The officer is replacing Assistant Police Chief Kenneth Jefferson, who had earlier requested to be moved to the lieutenant's position over the patrol division. Lt. Eddie Garcia, who is currently over the patrol division, will be moved to the detective lieutenant's job formerly held by Cantu.
