The Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held its’ monthly business meeting on Thursday, Aug. 8, with 14 members present. President Emma Villanueva called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. Monthly reports were presented by officers as well as standing and appointed committee members.

Business items of note include approval of purchase of equipment for the Respiratory Department (Capnography Monitor at approximately $4,500). Also discussed were plans and preparation for the auxiliary’s participation in the upcoming Kenedy/Karnes City Chamber of Commerce Market Days which will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Look for our booth where we will have discounted gift shop items as well as “homemade” treasures for your shopping pleasure. Hope to see you there!

Preparations are under way for a busy fall season with three of our major fund-raising events of the year. There will be a fall quilt raffle beginning in September (drawing to be held in November); Masquerade Jewelry sale is scheduled for October; and in November we will hold our annual Tamale Sale. Look for more specific details of these events as the time nears.

All proceeds from these fund raising efforts directly benefit the OKMH. Monies from these events allow us to make needed equipment purchases such as the Capnography Monitor mentioned above. Our success in these endeavors is a direct reflection of the strong and continuing support from the community.

Congratulations to Christina Garcia who won the basket filled with Sensitivity products. Our thanks to Diane Moczygemba for her donation of that basket.

The next Auxiliary business meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the Hospital Board Room.
