ODEM – The Skidmore-Tynan varsity baseball boys jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the host Owls, but the home team rallied to capture the win, 6-2, on Tuesday night.

The Bobcats now sport a 5-7 overall record and stand 2-3 in district play so far this year.

Odem put three runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second to take the lead away from the ’Cats. Single runs in the third, fourth and fifth frames put on the finishing touches for the Owls. The S-T boys managed to push across their second run in the fourth to make the final 6-2.

“We jumped on them and had momentum until we made a few mistakes in the second inning. In the fifth inning, we had a chance to get back in the game and made a couple mistakes at the plate and on the bases that cost us,” said head coach Cody Fields.

Bobcat Jonathan Hernandez pitched six innings and took the loss. He gave up two earned runs and struck out four Owl batters.

The Owl hurlers allowed three Bobcat base hits in the contest as Kyle Nelson, T.J. Amador and Eric Schumacher picked up the S-T base hits.

“We hit the ball hard a couple times, but Odem made a few great plays. We had our opportunities and didn’t capitalize,” Fields said.

The Bobcats hosted the San Diego Vaqueros on Friday night and will travel to Freer on Monday to play the Buckaroos.
