TIVOLI – A Port Lavaca man died in a two-vehicle head-on crash four miles south of Tivoli at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

Roshan Nepal, 29, died after his 2004 Honda Accord, traveling north on state Highway 35, veered into the southbound lane to go around a wrecker parked on the improved shoulder. Nepal’s Honda hit a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado head-on, driven by Thomas Lee Edwards, 34, of Seadrift, said Texas Department of Public Safety Cpl. Charlie Ramirez.

Edwards and his passenger, Debby Vasquez, 36, sustained serious head injuries and were flown to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi aboard a HALO flight emergency helicopter.

“All involved had their seat belts on,” said Ramirez.

The speed limit on state Highway 35 is 75 mph.

Refugio County Justice of the Peace Lorraine Lopez pronounced Nepal dead at the scene.

In addition to DPS troopers, the Refugio County Sheriff’s Department and the Tivoli Fire Department, and Refugio County EMTs responded to the accident.
