With funding from the Presidio La Bahia Foundation, Presidio La Bahia was able to offer incentives for schools to bring their fourth- and seventh-grade social studies students to Goliad.

When a teacher made a reservation for his/her school, the teacher was sent a guide to use in preparing students to come to Presidio La Bahia. The teachers and students were not charged an admission fee and were given a lecture about the history of Goliad in the 234-year-old Our Lady of Loreto Chapel.

A re-enactor was on hand to do demonstrations and display equipment from the early 1800s. As an added incentive for the schools to bring their students, the Presidio La Bahia Foundation paid a portion of the cost of the transportation. Sixty-five schools from around the state brought 4,311 students to Goliad because of the program, which is the only one of its kind in Texas.

Most of the schools also visited the Goliad State Park.
