RCRSP learn basic first aid techniques

The Refugio County Retired School Personnel meeting was hosted by the members from Austwell-Tivoli.

The meeting was conducted on Nov. 13, at the historic Fagan San Antonio River Ranch.

J.R. Palmer, registered nurse, explained a number of first aid techniques.

Palmer also emphasized the importance of having first aid kits at home and in vehicles.

Palmer also discussed health topics such as treating snake bites, lowering blood pressure by the simple method of coughing hard, and using proper abdominal thrusts to aid choking victims.

Jean Ann Bird of Corpus Christi reported on eligibility for long term health care.

She will be available to discuss individual insurance policies at the members convenience.

The next meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Refugio City Hall at 10:30 a.m.

Sixth grade singer Ally Coscetti will entertain with a selection of seasonal favorites.

Members are asked to bring a covered dish and a friend. Volunteer and walking hours are to be submitted at this meeting.
