RJH Bobcats plunder Pirates

The eighth grade Bobcats also started the season with a huge 36-6 victory over the Poth Pirates.

An explosive offense and a stingy defense dominated early as the Bobcats coasted to the win.

The Bobcats received the opening kickoff and promptly marched 65 yards for a touchdown.

Quarterback Travis Quintanilla completed four out of five passes, ending on a 35-yard touchdown pass to Devon LaFrance. J.B. Brown added the two point conversion to make the score 8-0.

The Bobcats defense forced a fumble on a big hit from Kevin Rodriquez. Tyler Williams recovered the fumble to give the ball to the Bobcats.

Quintanilla connected on passes to LaFrance, Dana Franklin, and Andrew Williams before Brown ran 15 yards for the Bobcats’ second touchdown. LaFrance scored the two-point conversion to make the score 16-0.

The Bobcat defense led by Shane Jochetz, Daniel Ochoa, Jim LaFond, Franklin, and Brown stuffed the Pirates and forced a punt.

The Bobcats took over and displayed an impressive running game. Behind the blocking of the offensive line of Pete Arredondo, Rodriguez, Tyler Williams, LaFond, and Daniel Ochoa, the Bobcats drove 50 yards for another touchdown.

Brown scored again to make the score 22-0.

Brown scored another touchdown right before halftime behind more outstanding blocking to make the score 28-0. Quintanilla scored the two-point conversion to make the score 30-0 at halftime.

The Bobcats scored again early in the third quarter when Franklin took a handoff and raced 30 yards for the Bobcats final touchdown, making the score 36-0.

Poth added a late touchdown to make the final score 36-6. Outstanding defense players were Tyler Williams, Ochoa, and Rodriguez.

On offensive, the offensive line of Pete Arredondo, Jim Lafond, Tyler Williams, Ochoa, and Rodriquez provided excellent run blocking for Brown and excellent pass blocking for Quintanilla the throw the ball.

The seventh and eighth grade Bobcats will travel to Aransas Pass on Thursday, Sept. 17 for their next game. The seventh grade will start at 5. The eighth grade will play at 6.
