I would like to thank Beeville and The Texas Mile for allowing the opportunity to participate in this event for the first time. Thank you to all the spectators and participants for making this event a success. Special thanks to Volatile Performance and Bay Auto Service of Corpus Christi for their contributions and making it possible for me to participate in the Texas Mile.
It is a privilege to perform on the same stage as the experienced participants and those who have set the pace for The Texas Mile. The amount of feedback and camaraderie from the other racers was unique and very surprising and appreciated. I am excited to return in October for the next event with many improvements and adjustments to the car to increase my miles per hour.
I would like to personally thank all my friends and relatives for all the help and long hours they dedicated for the preparation of the car. Thanks, guys; I would not have been able to do it without you.
Once I arrived at Chase Field, the adrenaline kicked in. My long-awaited dream was at last becoming a reality. As a rookie, I was clocked at 155.5 mph. The wind was a contributing factor that I did not account for and the desired mile per hour was not reached. When I saw the lighter, more aerodynamic, more powerful cars go not much faster than I did, I realized that I had done well for my first time. All the hard work, blood and sweat were well worth it.
See you in October!
Albert Garces
