The Three Rivers Centennial was celebrated on Saturday, July 6, in the Hilbert H. Kopplin Memorial Park. There were speakers commissioner Donna Mills, Mayor Sammie Garcia, Judge Jim Huff and James Liska talking about the history of the town and it was first called Hamiltonburg.
The band Ruben Salazar and el Groupo Patron were the first to perform. Gary Glenn and the 20X Band played second just before the Randy Rogers Band. Ruben and Gary were reared in Three Rivers.
The beautiful fireworks display lasted 17 minutes was seen from afar. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Bellows viewed it from their home near Highway 27 and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Franke enjoyed the fireworks from their home in the Oaks Community along with so many others.

Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Smith celebrated a Fourth of July dinner in the home of their neighbors, Jerry and Geraldine Retzloff. They had a good time.
Hayden Kopplin, Miranda and Kyla Lindsley, Audrey Kopplin, Richard and Nancy Lee, Brady, Lauren, Jenna and Ava, Kaylyn Schubert, Randy, Tammy, Holly and Reagan Kopplin, Jason, Crystal and Sadie Desselle, and Dustin Tracy and Bryce Favor shared fellowship and watched fireworks that the children off on the Fourth of July.
Warren and Haley Kopplin and children were at Leakey with the David Family Reunion for several days.
The Travis Walkers were guests of the Albert Liskas.
Kyle Wayne Otto, the grandson of Bill and Betty Otto, was a visitor on Saturday. He also used their tractor which he greatly enjoys driving. Callen Jonas was a visitor of Bill and Betty on Sunday morning. He was having tire trouble but couldn’t locate the problem. His wife, Kathy, and son, Mike, and others were fishing.
Martin Zamzow of Austin was a visitor of Jerry and Geraldine Retzloff on Friday night. He like the Centennial Plate which is very beautiful so Jerry was able to purchase one for him. There are also two books available about Three Rivers and its history. Floyd Odom wrote one about Reflections of Three Rivers. Both his father Eldon Odom and his mother Mamie Carroll Odom were Three Rivers residents for many years. The other book was written from notes of Colonel Charles Tips by Richard and Janice Hudson. They both sound very interesting.
Evelyn Marek Sautter, 93, passed away early last week. Her son Elton Sautter and wife and children Roxanne and Jeff Sautter and families and her daughter Doris Wieding and husband Marvin Wieding and children Daryl Wieding and daughter Alexis Diana, Jeffrey Zamzow, Kourtney and Kelsey survive. Her parents and late husband Sonny Sautter preceded her in death. The visitation was held in the Roberson Funeral Home on July 4 and the funeral service was held in Our Savior Lutheran Church on Friday, July 5. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Retzloff and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Liska were among those attending. Her loved ones have our sympathy.
