Brittany Brown Harrod was honored with a baby shower brunch for the sweet expected Harper Annsley Harrod to be born soon. The shower was given in the home of Cheri Dee Moore on Sunday. Many beautiful and useful gifts were received. Her mother, Margaret Brown, her mother-in-law Mrs. Wood Harrod and daughters and great-grandmothers Belaine Harrod and great-grandmother Margaret Goebel were present. Nancy Lee, Audrey Kopplin, and others were present for the baby shower brunch. Congratulations to Justin Ray and Veronica Smith upon the birth of their son Dylan Ray Smith born on July 29 in the Bay Area Hospital in Corpus Christi. He weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20-and-one-half inches long. His grandfather is Homer Ray Smith and the great-grandparents are Homer Ray and Joyce Smith. Homer and Joyce have visited Dylan and his parents and they have smothered him with love. He is their third great-grandson, and they have no daughters, granddaughters or great-granddaughters.
Robbie and Ginnie Smith were guests of Jerry and Geraldine Retzloff on Tuesday night. They enjoyed having supper together, and they had a small retirement party for Jerry as he was officially retired on Wednesday. Congratulations!
Jason Retzloff and daughters McKinsey and Meagan of Beeville visited before noon and had dinner with Jerry and Geraldine and spent the evening with them on Thursday. Jason was burning brush piles and cleaning the area where they plan to build in the future. Jason and his daughters came on Sunday afternoon, and the girls will be spending the week with their grandparents as their mother will be attending to out-of-town business.
Mike and Anita Cantu of Corpus Christi visited her parents Jerry and Geraldine on Sunday afternoon. Mike was putting the finishing touches on the remodeling of their home that he had completed. Melvin Melton took his Aunt Betty Otto to Corpus Christi on Monday as she had an eye appointment. She will have to return this week to pick up her glasses and have them fitted.
Kyle Otto, grandson on Bill and Betty Otto, visited them on Wednesday. He was busy getting ready to rope in Uvalde on Saturday. He and some friends came on Sunday and borrowed their tractor to use it for several hours.
Haley Kopplin rode with Audra Huff on Thursday afternoon to San Antonio to attend an administrators meeting on Friday and Saturday morning. Warren Kopplin, Kyndal and Taten drove up on Friday afternoon to have some fun before they start back to school.
Mr. and Mrs. Dustin Favor and Bryce visited Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Favor in Pleasanton on Friday evening. Tracy and Bryce had been in Corpus Christi that morning as Bryce had to receive his allergy shots.
Crystal and Sadie Desselle, Audrey Kopplin and myself shopped in San Antonio on Saturday evening. Sadie had spent three days visiting her Aunt Kristie, Uncle JT. Alford and children near Houston. The Desselles spent Saturday night and Sunday visiting with us and Tracy and Bryce Favor, Randy, Tammy and Holly Kopplin and Hayden Kopplin visited on Sunday afternoon. Reagan Kopplin is spending several days visiting with his Aunt Tina, Uncle Troy, and cousins Cody and Cole Richie at Comfort.
Richard and Nancy Lee, Brady, Lauren, Jenna and Ava Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Salinas, and daughter Erica and grandson, and others enjoyed a barbecue supper given in honor of Quest Newberry as he is preparing to attend college on Saturday night in George West. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Jay Newberry and brother Cason were also present.
We wish Trae Smith of George West a speedy recovery as he was diagnosed to have viral meningitis on Sunday.
