RUNGE – The Runge Museum Association (RMA) held its monthly meeting on Jan. 20 to discuss the progress of the museum’s continued restoration efforts, as well as to elect its officers for the new year and also to establish its first regular operating hours since the restoration efforts began.

The previous officers of the RMA were all re-elected for a second year term with consideration for mentoring potential officers who might possibly serve in 2015.

The elected officers were Larry Dement, president; Mary Beth Morgan, vice-president; Thom Reynolds, treasurer; and Patti Brasher, secretary.

RMA officials confirmed the museum’s first regular operating hours that began on Jan. 22. The established operating hours that the museum will be opened to the public is now every Wednesday from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. The museum will hope expand its regular operating hours even more in the future as restoration and renovations become complete.

“Official open house with power-point presentation of history of and plans for the museum is planned for March 22 or 29,” said RMA Vice-President Mary Beth Morgan “This years membership drive has begun and annual dues are set at $5. Donations in the amount of $1,700 received during this past month will be so helpful as we continue to update the museum.”

Discussed at the meeting was the recent successful installation of window blinds and the security mirrors for the museum. The next projects to be completed are the electrical rewiring, floor covering, and filing cabinet.

Also discussed at the meeting were other important dates regarding the museum hosting the Karnes County’s Chambers of Commerce second Friday breakfast on April 11 at 7 a.m., and also the museum’s annual barbecue chicken fundraiser that will be held May 10, the Saturday before Mother’s Day.
