THREE RIVERS – The opening varsity football game of the season for both varsity football teams had the Bulldogs barking and biting while the visiting Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats struggled. The TR boys captured a 30-0 win.

“We didn’t execute our offense on Friday night. We didn’t come off the ball, and we have challenged our offensive line this week,” said S-T head coach John Livas.

The game was close through the first half as the Bobcat defense caused a few turnovers and basically stopped the Bulldogs in their tracks. It was a TR lead of only 7-0 as the teams went into the locker rooms for halftime.

“We saw some good things from our defense,” Livas said.

The Bobcat offense struggled all night.

“Our offense cannot be successful if we don’t block. If you don’t execute, move the ball or have any explosive plays, you don’t score any, and that is what happened Friday night,” Livas said.

The run-oriented Skidmore offense was led by the running of Donavan Encinia, who accumulated 74 yards and hauled in another 29 yards receiving. (No other stats were made available.)

The Bobcats will be back on the road on Friday night when they travel to Mathis to face off against the Pirates. The kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

“Now, as a team, we need to focus on playing four quarters of football. The Bobcats are focused and will be ready come Friday night,” Livas said.
