S-T powerlifters busy at Wildcat meet

CALALLEN – The Skidmore-Tynan powerlifters competed at the Wildcat Invitational meet on Saturday with good results, according to Bobcat head coach Alex Lopez.

Three boys placed in the top 10 in the respective weight classes.

Bobcat Trey Cantu captured a second place medal in the super heavyweight division with his three lift total. Ryan Lakso was fourth in the 181-pound weight class, and Alex Rocha finished sixth overall in the 148-pound division.

Brady Carpenter, Nick Hernandez and Nick Avila also competed for the Bobcats and did well in their divisions, according to Lopez.

The Lady Cats had three lifters finish in the top 10 of their weight classes.

Brianna Olivarez placed fourth in her division while Naomi Garza finished third in her division. Cassandra Soto also came in third with her three lift total in her weight class. Soto lifted well enough to qualify for the UIL Region IV meet later this spring.

Felicia Ortiz also competed for the Bobcats and did well in her division.
