Schauer steer places, sells in national auction

DENVER — Cuatro Schauer of Beeville sold a 2nd Place Steer Crossbreds for $4,000 at the National Western Stock Show’s Auction of Junior Livestock Champions on Jan. 21. The winning bidder of the animal was Sue Anschutz-Rodgers.

Ninety-seven animals, steers, lambs, hogs and goats sold for approximately $423,800 at the 2011 auction.

Ten percent of each winning bid will be contributed to the National Western Scholarship Trust that supports 74 agribusiness and rural medical scholarships at universities and community colleges throughout Colorado and Wyoming. This year, the contribution totaled approximately $42,380.

More than 1,930 animals from 25 to 30 states competed in the national junior competition.
