Charles Schendel started at the Runge Post Office as a substitute carrier, Dec. 16, 1978. He became a regular carrier January 20, 1996.
Charles received the Million Mile Award in December of 2008 from the National Safety Council for attaining 1,000,000 miles or 30 years of service, driving without a preventable accident.
He retires never using a day of sick leave and with a total time of service of 33 years and 8 months. The Runge Post Office staff wishes him well and thanks him for his years of service.
