The Singing Men of South Texas will present a free gospel music concert at the McMullen County Community Center on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend and enjoy the variety of gospel music.

The Singing Men of South Texas is composed of ministers of music and church musicians from churches in South Texas from Georgetown to McAllen and Del Rio to Port Lavaca. Tommy Lyons has been director of the group since 1979. Six other such groups as this go together to form Singing Men of Texas and are an arm of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

Besides doing one concert per month in this area of the state, this group participates in music missions around the world. The group just completed a choir project to Bethlehem, Israel, in December 2011 and is looking forward to a project to the Ukraine in September 2012.

The Singing Men will be served lunch prepared by the ladies of the church at the Community Center at 12:30 p.m. The Tilden Baptist Church is hosting the event.

The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the McMullen County Community Center, at the junction of Highways 16 and 72 north of Tilden. The Singing Men can be contacted via their website
