The freshman lost 54-24, while the JV girls earned a 52-25 victory.
The ninth-grade ladies had a tough time getting their offense going against the G-P defense. Briana Jackson led the Beeville scoring with 12 points while Lindsey Roberson and Krystal Cuellar each had five in the loss.
The JV girls put up some good numbers on both offense and defense. After a slow start, the JV ladies struck for 19 second period points and completely shut down the G-P offense in the second quarter. It was a 25-9 Beeville lead at halftime.
The Lady Trojan defense kept the G-P girls in check over the second half. The Beeville girls outscored the home team 27-13 to take the 52-25 victory.
Three Lady Trojans were in double figures, led by Courtney Perez with 15 points. J.J. Hernandez hit for 13 and Noemi Lopez finished with 11. Chrissi Casanova just missed double figures with eight points and Lindsey Yanez hustled for five.
“We got off to a slow start but after the first quarter, the ladies were able to pull things together and then dominated the rest of the way,” said JV coach Ophelia De Los Santos.
The JV season record improved to 5-10 and the girls stand 5-3 in district play.
The Lady Trojans played the Miller Lady Bucs last night (Friday)and will be in Port Lavaca on Tuesday night to meet the Sandies.
