“Am I in the right place?”
But, sure enough, a guy with pointy ears and a huge sword came around the corner of the convention center.
It was the right place, but my car was parked in the wrong place.
RealmsCon which was held Oct. 12-14, now in its eighth year, was pretty awesome.
Where else could you get to see movie actors, TV voice actors, cartoon voice actors and every single anime character you could imagine mingling with video game characters or comic book artists?
One would never think that a convention of this sort would bring much of a crowd in Corpus Christi, but the American Bank Center was packed.
There were good anime characters fighting bad ones.
Foam sword fights in one corner, Boba Fett in the other. Homemade costumes that would make their parents blush, or shake their head.
It was quite the sight to see.
Especially since it was in our own backyard.
Panels on how to make your own dolls, do the best zombie makeup, design a cosplay costume as well as concerts and actors talking about their craziest times on set, filled the rooms that lined the upstairs portion of the convention.
Dealer booths and artists lined the walls of the lower portion selling... interesting items, to say the least, that any anime fan would enjoy.
And though only spending a few hours there among the fascinating, albeit odd, crowd, it became evident to me that there was a place for everyone in this world.
But this place was just more awesome.
