Sheriff Carlos Carrizales had his deputies release a security video taken at about 3:08 a.m. Tuesday by a camera at the store’s front door.
The video shows a dark blue, 2006 to 2009, Dodge Quad Cab pickup backing up to the front door of the business.
A masked man jumped out of the passenger side of the pickup, walked to the back of the vehicle and then tied what appears to be a nylon strap to the front doors of the building.
The vehicle then pulled the two front doors from the building.
The masked man took the nylon strap into the store, and in the security video one can only tell that he tied the strap to something inside.
When the pickup tried to pull whatever was inside the building out the front doors, the strap broke; the masked man jumped back into the truck, and it sped away in a southerly direction on U.S. Highway 181.
“But that doesn’t mean anything,” Sgt. Steve Linam said Tuesday. He suggested that the Dodge truck could have gone in any direction after it left the parking lot.
Linam and Lt. John Davis said the two men left the building at Papa’s heavily damaged and the ATM was crushed. But no money was taken.
