Addika Martin (right) and Victoria Mercado (left), both middle schoolers from Bee County, participated in H-E-B’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in Houston. Only the top 12% of cheerleaders and dancers from camps throughout the country were invited to participate. Alexis Garza, another Bee County middle schooler, is not pictured but was also selected to participate in the parade.
Addika Martin, Victoria Mercado and Alexus Garza of Bee County were all selected to perform in the parade with other cheerleading and dance All-Americans from Varsity’s summer camps throughout the country.
All-Americans were selected via tryout based on the superior cheerleading or dance skills they showed at camp. Only the top 12 percent of the cheerleaders and dancers who attended Varsity camps have earned the chance to march in a holiday parade of this caliber.
The girls performed with the Varsity All-American group in the annual Thanksgiving Day festivities through the heart of downtown Houston for tens of thousands of spectators lining the parade route. The event was televised in the Houston area and syndicated throughout the U.S.
The Varsity All-American program is celebrating its 26th year of choosing camp standouts.
