There were 2,035 citations issued in the county in 2013, according to Brumby. Caucasians were issued 1,049 citations while Hispanics were given 830 tickets and African Americans were cited 134 times.
The commissioners decided to set a workshop for 10 a.m. Thursday to discuss designating a reinvestment zone so the county can apply for $440,518 in grants for transportation infrastructure with the state’s County Energy Transportation Reinvestment Zone program.
Commissioners unanimously approved updating the guidelines and criteria for granting tax abatements in the reinvestment zone with the amendment of making the investment $1 million from $5 million.
The court also unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. Border Patrol and the county for reimbursement of joint operations expenses.
