SAN MARCOS — The Texas High School Coaches Association released its Academic All-State football teams on Tuesday, and the Beeville Trojans were well represented.

Senior center Graham Traylor was awarded and earned a spot on Academic All-State first team for his work on the field and especially in the classroom.

A 92 plus average in the classroom, being in good standing on the football team, being of good moral character and being a senior are the criteria to be acknowledged by a nominated player. The head coaches of the state’s varsity football teams send in their selections along with the student/athlete’s resumes and recommendations. The association’s committee then makes its selections.

Beeville Trojan head coach Troy Moses also nominated senior running back Rogelio Salazar, who was selected to the honorable mention list to place two Trojans among the best student/athletes in the state.

Skidmore-Tynan Bobcat receiver Brandon East and defensive back/receiver Jonathan Hernandez also were chosen for the Academic All-State honorable mention list. The Bobcat pair were nominated by head coach Russell Joy.
