FLOUR BLUFF – The Beeville Special Olympics team competed this past weekend in the Area 2 track and field events.

Beautiful weather presented itself for a perfect day of track and field events.

“The athletes had a great time,” said Beeville coach David Henley.

Representing A.C. Jones High School this year and their event results were first-time athlete Miranda Abrigo, who placed fourth in the softball throw and sixth in the 50-meter run. Graduating senior Alex Salazar won a bronze medal in the 50-meter run. Richard Moreno was fourth in the softball throw and also placed first in the 50-meter walk. Graduating senior Angel Southmayd was fourth in the softball throw and was second for a silver medal in the 100-meter run.

Allie Bernal was third in the softball throw and second in the 50-meter run for the Trojans. First-time athlete Jose Johnson was fifth in the softball throw and captured a gold medal in the 100-meter run.

“Great job, Trojans. We are proud of you,” Henley said.
