BEEVILLE – On Tuesday night, the Trojan wrestling team faced off against Victoria East and West.

The Titans only brought three wrestlers to vie against the varsity Trojans. At 126 pounds, Beeville’s Tristan Longoria earned a pin fall win in the first period to get the Trojans started. At 182 pounds, Trojan Valente Garza also pinned his opponent in the first period for another six points. In the 285 division, John Ross Carabajal lost a decision 8-5 in a close match. Adding in the wins by default in the other weight brackets, the Trojans captured an easy 42-9 victory over the Titans.

The match with the West Warriors was much closer. The starting weight class against Victoria West began at 195 pounds, and the Trojans had to give up a forfeit at that weight.

Trojan Lupe Banda won at 220 pounds with a first period pin fall. In the 285-pound class, John Ross Carabajal helped the team by getting a forfeit victory and six points for the Trojans, which was evened out by a Beeville forfeit at 120 pounds.

At 126 pounds, Trojan Tristan Longoria won by a pin in the first period against Estrada. The Trojans lost another forfeit; Seth Aguirre at 138 pounds lost by pin to Warrior Boswell in the first period. At 145 pounds, Trojan Seth Hodges went three periods with West’s Ledbetter but lost by a pin in the final period.

Beeville’s Nathaniel Barris at 160 pounds won by a pin fall in the third period. Jeremy Ramirez (170 pounds) also pinned his West opponent in the third period. Beeville’s Valente Garza ended the Trojans’ match with an exhibition win against West’s 195-pound wrestler with a first period pin fall.

The Trojans edged the Warriors 36-30 for the victory.

Each Trojan girl was matched against a Victoria West girl. At 102 pounds, Danielle Perez started with a pin win in the first period. At 119 pounds, Brianna Gobel lost in three periods on a decision, 11-7. At 128 pounds, Amanda Puga lost by pin fall in the second period.
