With cooler weather upon us, the parishioners of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish in Cestohowa are busily preparing for their annual turkey dinner and turkey shoot to be held Sunday, Oct. 21. The day will begin with Mas at 10 a.m. in the beautiful historic parish church which is open throughout the day for visiting. The grotto honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary was recently restored and depicts Mary in the form of Our Lady of Cestohowa, Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Guadalupe. The altar society will serve a delicious traditional turkey and dressing dinner with all the trimmings beginning at 11 a.m.

More food is being prepared this year to better accommodate the larger crowds that have been attending. Homemade pies will be available as well as homemade baked food stand. Bingo will begin at 12 noon and there will be games for the children as well. A concession stand featuring tamales and other treats will be available throughout the afternoon.

The Cestohowa Men’s Club will sponsor a turkey shoot, which will begin at 12 noon as well as a sportsman’s raffle which includes some great prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the top three “turkey winners”. There is something for everyone. Father Andrzej Waszczenko and all his parishioners invite everyone to come out enjoy the day in Cestohowa, you won’t be disappointed. Hope to see you there.
