VICTORIA – On Friday Dec. 20, the Beeville basketball teams traveled together to tangle with the East Titans before taking a short break for the Christmas holiday.

The Titans were inhospitable hosts as far as the two varsity games were concerned as the East varsity squads worked for two relatively easy wins.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Titans owned a 14-point lead at the halftime break and expanded that with a tough second half to capture a 69-38 victory. The main problem for the Beeville girls was Kendall Carter. The Lady Titan burned the nets for 31 points in the win, almost outscoring the Lady Trojans as a team. No stats or scoring totals were made available.

The boys’ contest was not a great deal different as the Titans powered their way to a 69-41 victory over the Trojans. It was a 34-21 game at the half as the Beeville boys struggled to score against the East defense.

The second half was almost identical to the first half, as the Titans accumulated an additional 35 points while holding the Trojans to 20 to cruise in with the 28-point victory.

The Trojans did not have anyone in double figures while the Titans placed three players in that category.

Beeville was led by the eight points from Tyler Stewart. Tommy Dominguez followed with seven. Adolf Garcia and Dylan Castillo both hit for six. Jonathan Huser, Augie Canas and Cody Vasquez each contributed four points on the night. Elias Guzman closed out the Beeville scoring with two.

The Trojans are competing in the George West holiday tournament this weekend. Play began on Friday, and the finals of the tournament will be played on Saturday.

The Lady Trojans are participating at the West Oso Lady Bears tournament this weekend.
