The Titans fought back from an early 6-2 deficit to top the Lady Trojans 18-16 at the end of the first quarter. The visitors continued their good shooting in the second period and upped their advantage to seven points, 38-31, going into the half.
The Lady Titans kept the pressure on and stretched their margin to 10 points by the end of the third quarter. It was a 55-45 tilt with the Titans holding the upper hand.
The Lady Trojans did not enjoy a good shooting night but fought back to close within nine a couple of times and cut the margin to eight points at 58-50 early in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Titans kept the Beeville girls at bay the rest of the way and kept their winning margin at 10 points.
The loss was the Lady Trojans’ first in district to put them at 2-1 at the holiday break. The Beeville girls hold an overall record of 15-4 on the season.
The Lady Trojans were led by the prolific scoring from Victoria Elizalde who burned the nets for 28 points on the night, 21 of those coming in the second half. Ciara Garcia worked inside and at the foul line to join Elizalde in double figures, scoring 11 in the loss. Tori Munoz also recorded 11 points on a variety of jumpers around the lane. Theresa Amador and Brennan Holder each contributed nine points. Krystal Cuellar and Audrey Carranco added two.
The Lady Trojans will compete at the Pride of Texas tournament next week in West Oso. Tournament play begins on Thursday and ends with the Saturday finals.
The Lady Trojans will also play their annual alumni game on Jan. 1. It is set for 5 p.m.
