Wimberly, 58, filed as a Republican.
“The Goliad County Commissioners Court should consist of folks who will base their decisions on what is best for our community,” Wimberly told the Advance-Guard in an e-mail. “Special interests and personal agendas have no place in government and particularly in rural government.”
Wimberly said the local governments need to work together for the benefit of the county.
“We are a small, close- knit community and there is no good reason why we can’t work together within the county to get and keep us on track,” Wimberly said.
“Goliad County is very unique to this part of Texas, having one municipality and one school district in the entire county means we have to collaborate.”
