REFUGIO – A woman was injured when her black Chevrolet pickup ran a red light at Jeter and Alamo streets on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Maria Rodriguez, 46, was taken to Refugio County Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the eastbound pickup she was driving collided with a silver Jeep headed north on Alamo Street, or U.S. Highway 77, about 11:50 a.m.

Rodriguez was cited for failing to yield at a red light. Other passengers in the vehicle were not injured: Elva Velmarez, Aldo Flores and Eugenio Delgado, according to law enforcement officials at the scene.

The silver Jeep’s driver, Audrey Martini, 67, and her passenger, Makenna Dell, 14, were not injured.

In addition to the Refugio County Sheriff’s Office, the Refugio County Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and emergency medical techs responded.

The northbound curb lane of U.S. Highway 77 was closed for about an hour until the wrecked vehicles were towed away by Milton’s Wrecking Service.
