The Live Oak County Republican Party held its county convention Saturday, April 21, in the commissioner’s courtroom in George West with Ross Cansino, county chair, presiding.

The Nominations committee, chaired by Clay Jostes, nominated the following seven delegates to the State Convention to be held in Fort Worth June 7-9: Roberta Dobie, Vance Smith, Clay Jostes, Kelly James, Anna Diaz, John Valentine and Charlotte Vass. Seven alternate delegates were also chosen: James Vass, Rodney Nance, Mary Ann Pawlik, Grace Wilson, Tom and Sue Denniston and Ross Cansino.

The Resolutions committee, chaired by Anna Diaz, brought 40 resolutions to the floor for consideration. Thirty-eight were passed and will be sent to the State Convention for consideration. One resolution which was soundly accepted was that members of Congress be subject to all bills which they pass. At present members of Congress are not subject to the massive health care which they passed.
