BEEVILLE – Two of the men’s basketball players at Coastal Bend College have caught the eye of university recruiters and coaches and will be continuing their educations and basketball careers at two four-year schools beginning next fall.

Darius Dawkins, a 6-8 forward who was always near the top of the scoring and rebounding stats for the Cougars, has signed to play his final two years at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Dolphins will be getting a good power forward who can also play the small forward spot when needed. He has the strength, speed and quickness to cover both positions.

Dawkins played just one year with the Cougars but was instrumental in helping the CBC men to a winning record this year. Dawkins will pursue his degree plan in criminal psychology at Jacksonville University. He is from McLeansville, North Carolina, and will be closer to home at the north Florida university.

Kriston Minor has signed to be a St. Mary’s University Rattler next year. The San Antonio school is a good fit for the point or shooting guard. Minor can hit the three-pointer and has the strength to battle on the boards with opposing teams’ bigger forwards.

The 6-2 guard from Huntsville will continue his pursuit to obtain his degree in occupational therapy and the Rattlers will welcome him on the court next fall.
